Plans for Dana Point Harbor renovation released

Significant changes are coming to the Dana Point Harbor, which will undergo a renovation, and the plans for that project have just been released so that residents can see for the first time what’s going to be done.

Talks about changing the harbor having been going on for decades, and residents are reportedly happy to see that something is finally going to be done. Business owners in the area are especially curious to see how these changes could impact them.

The supervisor, who has lived in Dana Point for 25 years, did say that the project will not be cheap. It’s going to cost around $150 million, and it could cost as much as $200 million. The goal, though, is to revamp the area so that it’s a destination in Orange County. This could bring in more tourism and the money that goes along with it.

It’s worth noting that the harbor is already a nice destination, both for those who come to the area from out of town and those who live nearby. There are roughly 1,200 employees and it makes about $82 million every year. The plans would simply try to ramp this up to increase traffic and make everything modern and new.

With a project this large, it’s not going to get done overnight. The speculation about the time-frame right now says it could take two years. Naturally, things can change once the project gets going, depending on whether or not there are any setbacks.

When it comes to huge development projects, it’s very important to have all of the legal issues ironed out before work begins.
